A kerb, or curb, is the edge where a raised sidewalk or road median meets a street or other roadway. Kerbs are typically laid on a concrete bed of at least 100 mm thickness so that they are joined with the pavement. The back of the kerb should be haunched with concrete to provide lateral support. Kerbing provides an important safety function as it can help to prevent vehicles from leaving the road and helps to channel stormwater runoff.
